Salicylic Acid
Salicylic acid is a beta-hydroxy acid (BHA) renowned for its exceptional benefits in skincare, particularly for acne-prone and oily skin. Its oil-soluble nature allows it to penetrate deep into pores, effectively dissolving excess sebum, dead skin cells, and impurities that can lead to breakouts. By exfoliating both the skin's surface and inside pores, salicylic acid helps prevent clogging, reducing blackheads, whiteheads, and pimples. Additionally, it possesses anti-inflammatory properties, soothing redness and irritation associated with acne. Regular use can improve skin texture, minimize pore appearance, and promote a clearer, more even complexion. It’s also beneficial for treating mild hyperpigmentation and keratosis pilaris. However, those with sensitive skin should use it cautiously, starting with lower concentrations to avoid excessive dryness or irritation. Always follow up with sunscreen, as salicylic acid can increase sun sensitivity.
Glycolic Acid
Glycolic acid stands as one of the most revered and effective ingredients in modern skincare, celebrated for its remarkable ability to rejuvenate and refine the complexion. As the smallest molecule in the Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) family, derived from sugarcane, it possesses a unique capacity to penetrate deeply into the skin. Its primary function is to gently dissolve the "glue" that binds dead, dull skin cells to the surface, thereby promoting accelerated cellular turnover. This exfoliating action effectively uncovers the fresher, brighter, and more evenly textured skin lying beneath, leading to a visible reduction in the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, and acne scars. Furthermore, by clearing away pore-clogging debris and smoothing the skin’s surface, it enhances the efficacy of other products in your routine, allowing serums and moisturizers to absorb more effectively. While its benefits are profound, it is potent; incorporating it gradually and always following with a broad-spectrum sunscreen is paramount to harnessing its power without compromising the skin's barrier.

Who can use Quinsia 2% Salicylic Acid Moisturizer?
Both men and women above the age of 20 can use this product.
Direction to use
- Oily & Acne-Prone Skin
Usage:Use daily (AM or PM) if tolerated, as both ingredients help regulate sebum and reduce breakouts. Start with every other day if new to actives, then gradually increase. Layer over a lightweight hydrating serum (e.g., hyaluronic acid) if needed, but avoid heavy creams that may clog pores. Avoid combining with other strong exfoliants (e.g., benzoyl peroxide) to prevent irritation.
- Dry or Dehydrated Skin
Usage: Begin with 1–2 times a week to avoid over-drying. Buffer by applying a hydrating serum or ceramide cream first, then follow with the moisturizer. Skip use on nights with retinoids or other exfoliants.
- Combination Skin
Usage: Apply 2–3 times a week, targeting oilier zones (T-zone) while using sparingly on drier areas (cheeks).Pair with a gel-cream moisturizer to balance hydration without greasiness.Monitor for sensitivity—reduce frequency if redness or tightness occurs.
- Sensitive Skin
Usage: Patch test first! Opt for formulas with low concentrations (e.g., 0.5–1% salicylic acid + 2–3% niacinamide).Start with once weekly, applied over damp skin or mixed with a calming moisturizer to dilute. Avoid pairing with retinols, vitamin C, or physical scrubs. Soothing add-ons: Follow with centella asiatica or aloe vera to counteract irritation.
- Normal Skin
Usage: Use 2–3 times a week for gentle exfoliation and brightness. Ideal for PM routine; always follow with SPF 30+ in the AM (salicylic acid increases sun sensitivity). Can layer with peptides or antioxidants (e.g., vitamin E) for added benefits.
Patch Test
Before use a patch test is highly recommended.
Apply a small amount of the face wash to a discreet area, such as:
- Behind the ear
- Inner forearm
- Side of the neck (near the jawline)
- Avoid testing on active acne or broken skin.
Wash the area with the product, then rinse off as usual. Wait at least 24–48 hours to check for any delayed reactions.
- Can I use this moisturizer every day?
Ans: Yes, if your skin tolerates it. However, if you have sensitive skin, start by using it 2–3 times per week and gradually increase frequency.
- Can I Use It with Sunscreen?
Ans: Absolutely! Always apply SPF 50+ in the AM, as salicylic acid increases sun sensitivity. Let the moisturizer absorb fully before applying sunscreen.
- Can pregnant and lactating mothers use this moisturizer?
Ans: Moisturizer containing low concentrations of salicylic acid (≤2%) and glycolic acid (≤10%) is generally considered safe for pregnant and breastfeeding women when used occasionally and as directed. Topical application of these acids in mild formulations has minimal systemic absorption, reducing potential risks. However, it's best to consult a doctor before use, especially if you have sensitive skin or concerns about irritation. Avoid high-strength peels, prolonged leave-on treatments, or oral forms of salicylic acid (like aspirin), which may pose risks. If you prefer extra caution, gentler alternatives like lactic acid or azelaic acid are excellent pregnancy-safe options for exfoliation and acne control. Always patch-test new products, as hormonal changes can increase skin sensitivity during this time.
